“Throughout childhood I was always busy creating something with my hands. It wasn’t, however, until my late 40’s while living in Oman, a friend asked me to accompany her to a drawing class. That was a pivotal moment for me, a real light bulb moment and the beginning of my ongoing obsession with painting.
I have since attended a few classes and workshops but am mainly self- taught. My artistic interest has always been florals, my reference material being from our beautiful garden we created in Auckland over many years.
I love that flowers are still beautiful and bring joy at all stages of the life cycle. I hope to bring rest, peace, and pleasure to the viewer through the use of oils as my medium, often with bold colour and strong contrasts of light and shade.
A recent move to beautiful Kinloch on the shores of Lake Taupo provides endless inspiration and natural beauty. I plan to devote myself to further developing my art practice and technical skill.”
