Brent has been exhibiting extensively since he graduated from Nelson Polytech in 1994. He spent 12 years living in Nelson before moving back to his birth town of Timaru.
The vast horizons of Canterbury and his daily trips cycling to Ashburton for work provided him with much of his inspiration for this collection. Painting from memory when he returns to his studio.
His enchanting monochromatic land and seascapes are produced by layering and scraping away his scenes, which leave but a reference to a place. This creates the very distinctive style Brent has become well known for.
