Stirling silver 'Claddagh' ring featuring a Tui bird and a crown and heart design by Nelson jeweller Helen Turinsky.

The Irish Claddagh Design, recognised everywhere as a symbol of love.

The early history of the Claddagh goes back over 400 years to a fishing village on the shores of Galway Bay. A seafaring Spanish goldsmith fell in love with a girl from Claddagh village and crafted the first Claddagh ring for her.

A Claddagh ring worn with the heart facing towards one's own heart is a proclamation of love and the heart facing away is a sign of being uncommitted. The crown is for loyalty and the hands represent friendship, as your partner in life is also your best friend.
