Peter Marr is based in Nelson and creates wooden sculptures. Peter works with pieces to bring out the beauty from within the natural wood. He enhances the natural form, sometimes using colour or displaying the work in a way that makes you engage with and see the wood in a different way.'It feels like I have always been making something in my garage, I find the garage a very relaxing place & allows me to find the beauty in some very interesting, if not - somewhat ugly stuff at times. I like to repurpose & recycle materials as much as I can. ‘Missing a Tooth” the steel arch was removed from a beer vat from a trailer. (The trailer I also re-built) I love to collect interesting stuff I find on my travels and keep it around until I find a use for it one day. (soon I hope - it’s building up) I also love experimenting with oils & other products to get interesting and sometimes unexpected results... this is all part of the journey.'
