Hilary Johnstone is a Nelson based Jeweller.  Her unique jewellery pieces are primarily made of silver or copper.  Some pieces are influenced by her family history. In these pieces she has used reflective road marking beads. These beads catch the light giving the jewellery an incredible glow.

'You can rely on change and impermanence in this evolving life. 

My work is honest and raw reflecting this. I use materials that will weather and develop. Silver will dull if left and blackened patinas will allow copper to clint through with wear. Some sparkle may fade as with our own bodies as they submit to aging.

This is not a weakness but rather a coming of age.'
