Agate Rubene is an artist and illustrator. Born in Latvia, Agate is currently living and working in Wanaka, New Zealand. 

After studying fashion design in Riga Design and Art school, Agate moved to Herning, Denmark and later Amsterdam where she completed degrees in Design & Business at TEKO and Amsterdam Fashion Institute. 

Agate’s background in fashion illustration has had a huge influence on her style. Her vibrant and bold work focuses on people, capturing their actions and emotions. She depicts life’s pleasures with a light-hearted nature. 

Bright colour palettes, fluid shapes and vibrant characters create alternative realities. The artworks are inspired by daily personal experiences, mood and aesthetics of pop culture.
